Since the establishment of Social Media Week Lagos (SMW Lagos), the event attracts different personalities in Africa. Over 300 global thinkers, innovators, civil servants, pop culture luminaries, entrepreneurs and world-class thought-leaders gather in Lagos. The theme of 2018 Social Media week is “Closer.”

The event continues to inspire technology in Africa. The theme “closer” will try to expound on existing conflict between individuals and communities in Africa. Therefore, the discussions will focus on ways of uniting people and enhancing innovation.

Lagos has continually hosted Social media week since its establishment in 2013. The 2018 Social Media Week will take place between February 26 and March 2nd, 2018 in Lagos. In 2017, more than 100 startups contributed to the success of the event.

The 2018 SMW will also feature AfricaNXT for the first time. AfricaNXT will showcase artists and their creativities that can change Africa.Besides, SMW Lagos will expand its areas of operations by adding two outdoor spaces for programming. The outdoor space will hence provide an area for networking and sharing experiences.

Emerging Ideas & Trends

Travel & Tourism

Besides, the 2018 edition will have experiential activities such as pop-up library with African authors, “A Great Day in Gidi”, “Afrobeats & Eats Fest”, and SHOPAFRICA.
