Copia Kenya Launches a New Online Shopping Solution

TechInAfrica – Copia Kenya has announced the launching of a new online shopping solution to better serve consumers living in the urban areas of the country. The new service will make it easier for people living in the areas to buy goods on the platform and get them shipped to their family or friends upcountry.

The new service is website-based e-commerce that provides various products ranging from household goods, farming tools, electronics, construction materials, amongst others. To get the items shipped, customers living in the urban areas need to add a contact number of their friend or family member upcountry. Copia will locate the recipient and identify the nearest delivery location between its agents and get the items delivered within two to four days.

The service offers a new solution for customers in urban areas with an affordable, easier, and convenient way of shopping experience.

Tim Steel, CEO of Copia Kenya said during the launching of Copia Online at Tatu City Industrial Park: Copia’s rapid growth in just five years shows the demand that exists among Kenyans in both rural and urban areas for digitally-powered solutions that make their day-to-day shopping needs easier.”

For the record, Copia is Kenya’s first e-commerce firm that has a delivery service to beyond rural areas to interior areas. Overall, Copia over 3,700 agents across Central Kenya and parts of Rift Valley. These agents are mostly small shopkeepers whose operation and distributions within their areas.

So far, Copia has already served more than 300,000 customers and completed about 2 million orders. With its solution, Copia at the same time has provided its agents with an additional source of income.

“E-commerce has the potential to transform Kenya’s economy while helping to uplift the living standards of millions of people. However, this can only happen if they are rolled-out with logistics and distribution solutions tailor-made to work for Kenya,” Steel concluded.
