Kenya’s Virtual Water Firm Wins 2018 Startup of the Year Africa Awards

In their bid to support innovation in Africa, Startup.Info magazine organized awards for various innovators in Africa. The awards attracted over 600 participants from 52 African states. Besides, 41 million people reached on different social media platforms.  Moreover, more than 12,000 online users took part in the voting process.

Victor Shikoli and Brian Bosire, the founders of HydroIQ, a Kenyan virtual water networking firm, received awards for their invention. The duo received startup of the Year Africa 2018 award in Casablanca, Morocco. They received 10,000 Euros in both visibility pack and cash price.

The startup helps in intelligent prevention of water leakages and facilitates automatic billing payment. Besides, the startup allows mobile payments.

Moreover, Grace Agricole of OC from Ivory Coast clinched the Agritech special prize. Ecodome from Morocco also won the Qwant public choice award while Nigeria’s Peachwater Consulting won Energy Startup of the year award.
