TariLabs, the latest blockchain company is now operating in Johannesburg. The company targets to develop Tari blockchain protocol. The company is run by Riccardo “fluffypony” Spagni, the lead maintainer of Monero. It is also run by Dan Teree, founder of Ticketfly, and Naveen Jain, an entrepreneur from the US. The blockchain protocol is being put up to serve on various issues. This includes trade, management and the usage of digital products. Additionally, Tari will partner with Monero blockchain in carrying out its activities.

TariLabs will play an essential role in the project. This forces the protocol to have a team of developers who have strong aptitudes and specific skills. Jain and Spagni shared out what they look for from developers before hiring them.  They first consider their level of study and experience. These are critical factors to put in mind before hiring a blockchain developer.

According to Spagni, a degree from a relevant institution is an added advantage. But this is still not a necessity. He adds that university education not applicable in real life situation. According to him, the university only teaches an individual a specific thing. That is bringing to an end what one had already started. He adds that a degree in computer science is not a dangerous course. But it can be a distractor at times since one studies all the principles that come with the course.

He says that individuals can get the required skills through working on different projects. One should also have the interest to know how different systems operate. TariLabs does not source for developers who have experience in the blockchain sector. It instead goes for those who are in a position to work under strict constraints. Spagni says that blockchain protocols are minimum systems. The systems are at times hard to build well. He adds that it has many microservices that are loosely coupled.  It also has many APIs, and issues on disk I/O. Jain also backs Spagni’s system on employing developers who can work under strict constraints.

He adds that developers who have experience in constructing applications of low levels are in high demand. This is more so when it comes to blockchain projects. This is because such comes in with understanding and ethos that is high required. TariLabs have narrowed their interviews to developers of electrical engineers. These are mainly those that have experience in firmware. They have also interviewed individuals who have experience in software scenes. These are more so those that have a low level of experience in software.

Jain added that their blockchain protocol was happy to be developing its team in Johannesburg. This is because they believe that the place has many resources that are still untapped. This will be an advantage to TariLabs startup and also South Africa as a whole. This is because this is the only outstanding blockchain protocol that is being set up in the country.
