TechInAfrica – We live in a modern age where artificial intelligence has become a part of our daily lives. One of artificial intelligence component that we encounter often is a chatbot. In many organizations around the globe, a chatbot is a popular tool used for businesses.

There are different types of chatbots used for businesses, including:

1. FAQ Chatbots

The type of chatbot used as an alternative channel to help with FAQs. For example, a customer asks a FAQ and gets the answer right away on the spot. It can be very useful to use a FAQ chatbot, but you have to make sure that it can deliver a truly conversational experience. In other words, you need to maintain context for follow-up questions and escalate an agent if there’s a question unknown or unprogrammed.

2. Internal Assistant Bots

The chatbot used as an internal assistant that helps to provide quick answers to millennial questions. It’s usually used in organizations to help team members get a question about work deadlines, pending tasks, etc. Moreover, an internal assistant bot can also be used to answer common questions for new employees. It’s more time saving and efficient.

3. Transactional Bots

The chatbot that usually only focuses on doing one thing and cannot provide information nor understand irrelevant queries. It’s designed for user experience by providing a fast, convenient channel for one certain purpose only. It allows customers to make a transaction within a conversation which usually is useful for repeated transactions.

4. Navigational Bots  

A type of chatbot used as a conversational interface that helps visitor to locate relevant contents. Customers could link to an informative website, article, and resource requested by the visitor. Additionally, it can also be used to direct visitors to the most relevant products they request. It could even give different greetings and mention ongoing sales.

5. Lead Generation Bots

The bot that is used to lead generation with the ability to integrating with most lead generation strategies, from social media to content marketing. It’s usually used as a content marketing strategy to make more visibility of a brand or company. The bots can handle different channels and connect with customers over the conversation.
