PayCentral has teamed with MasterCard for the launch of DigiCentral a secure online platform that gives small business owners a simplified way of paying their rewards, incentives, gifts, corporate expenses, and salaries. This is done using a prepaid virtual card.

The virtual card can be used instead of the physical plastic card on e-commerce and in-store purchases. DigiCentral virtual cardholders can complete their transactions using a 16-digit card number with a security code and expiry date. You can link the ard to online retail apps like Uber, Checkers 360, Uber Eats, and others.

On in-store purchases, this virtual card is loaded to a Masterpass-enabled digital wallet. Once the loading is complete the cardholder uses your mobile phone to scan the QR code display when checking out to retailers and billers who accept MasterPass payments across South Africa.

Mastercard research shows 68% of South Africans doing more online shopping from the onset of the Covid-19 outbreak. 75% of the population are opting for contactless payment citing safety and cleanliness.

Suzanne Morel, the Country Manager at Mastercard South Africa cited social distancing as the main reason why customers opt for touch-free, secure, and seamless forms of payments without compromising on health and safety.
