SORA Technology, a Japan-based startup addressing infectious diseases and climate change in Africa using drones and AI, has secured an additional USD 2.5 million in the second close of its late seed funding round, bringing the total raised to USD 7.3 million.
This funding round follows a USD 4.8 million raise in 2025 and includes new investors such as Daiwa House Group Investment, Central Japan Innovative Research Fund I, and UNERI Capital Fund Series I.
Founded in 2018 by CEO Yosuke Kaneko, SORA Technology leverages drones, satellites, and AI to combat infectious diseases and environmental issues, with a primary focus on malaria control in Africa.
Its flagship project, SORA Malaria Control, operates in over 10 African countries, including Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, and Mozambique, and collaborates with governments, research institutions, and the World Health Organization.
The company intends to utilize this funding to enhance disease-prediction algorithms, expand operations across Africa, and bolster local drone and AI expertise in preparation for a future Series A funding round
