L’OrĂ©al has opened applications for the third edition of its Big Bang Beauty Tech Innovation Program, inviting startups across the South Asia Pacific, Middle East, and North Africa (SAPMENA) region to compete for a chance to pilot their technology with one of the world’s largest beauty companies.
Winners of the program secure a fully funded commercial pilot with one of L’OrĂ©al’s 40 international brands, potential scale across 35 SAPMENA markets, and a year of strategic mentorship from L’OrĂ©al’s senior leaders and program partners.
Now in its third year, the competition has produced seven startup winners to date from Australia, India, Singapore, and the UAE.
The 2026 edition reflects where the beauty industry is heading. Three structural shifts are shaping the themes: the rise of AI-powered commerce, the dominance of creator and affiliate-led ecosystems, and the advancement of the circular economy. Startups can apply under five tracks: Connected Brand Experience, Creators & Affiliates, AI-Powered Commerce, Science for Beauty, and Innovation for Good.
L’OrĂ©al cited NielsenIQ data showing that nearly half of consumers now receive beauty recommendations from generative AI — a figure that underlines why the program is doubling down on commerce intelligence and creator attribution tools.
Previous cohort alumni are already seeing real commercial traction. Indian startup Without, which transforms non-recyclable plastic waste into recyclable materials, said winning the program opened pathways to a commercial pilot that is now scaling across markets. Australian startup Heatseeker, which runs real-time customer intelligence experiments, said the pilot had influenced the company’s broader direction.
The submission deadline is 3 July 2026, with regional finals running between August and September. The in-person SAPMENA Grand Finale will take place in Singapore in November 2026.
