Tunisia-based agritech startup RoboCare has secured a six-figure investment from venture capital firm 216 Capital to support its regional expansion and the continued development of its artificial intelligence platform.
Founded in Sfax in 2020 by Imen Hbiri, RoboCare provides an AI-powered precision agriculture platform designed to help farmers detect crop diseases and stress at an early stage, optimise resources and improve productivity.
The platform combines satellite imagery, drone data, Internet of Things sensors, weather information and field expertise to generate agronomic insights and recommendations.
According to the company, the technology has delivered results including water savings of up to 35%, a reduction of up to 25% in agricultural inputs and yield increases of up to 20%.
RoboCare focuses particularly on crops that are strategically important across North Africa and the Middle East, including olive trees, cereals and processing tomatoes.
Unlike more general agricultural technology platforms, the startup develops its AI models using local data, allowing its recommendations to reflect the specific soil, climate and farming conditions of the region.
RoboCare currently monitors several thousand hectares and has generated thousands of agronomic alerts, enabling farmers and agribusiness operators to respond more quickly to potential crop health and production issues.
The company has also formed partnerships with institutional organisations and is building its presence within international agritech networks.
RoboCare will use the new funding to enter additional markets across Africa and the Middle East, expand its commercial teams and improve its AI models for a wider range of agricultural environments.
“For 216 Capital, this investment fully aligns with its strategy of supporting high-potential tech startups capable of delivering concrete answers to the continent’s major economic, social and environmental challenges,” said Hassen Arfaoui, principal at 216 Capital.
The investment comes as farmers across Africa and the Middle East face increasing pressure from climate change, water scarcity and rising production costs.
RoboCare aims to position itself as a leading regional provider of digital agricultural solutions, supporting greater farm productivity, resource efficiency and resilience.
