Semiconductor engineering startup ChipMango has raised $1.9 million in seed funding to expand its engineering operations and connect more African chip-design talent with global technology companies.
The funding round was led by Atlantica Ventures, with participation from DFS Labs, Madica, Kaleo Ventures, Trilinear Technologies and Malta Ventures.
Founded in 2022 by Ola Fadiran and Jovan Andjelich, ChipMango is headquartered in California but operates major engineering and design centres in Lagos, Nigeria.
The company trains African engineers in semiconductor design while deploying its teams to work on chip-development projects for international clients.
ChipMango plans to use the fresh capital to expand its engineering and product teams while strengthening its presence across Africa, Europe and the United States.
The startup also plans to establish a semiconductor design centre in Malta and support initiatives aimed at developing semiconductor talent and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Rwanda.
Fadiran and Andjelich bring experience from major global technology and engineering companies, having previously worked with firms including Tesla, Google, Intel and Boeing.
The investment comes as demand for semiconductor expertise continues to grow globally, creating opportunities for African engineers to participate in the international chip-design industry.
ChipMango’s expansion could also strengthen Africa’s position in the semiconductor value chain by developing locally based engineering talent capable of working on advanced technology projects for global customers.
