Enakl Secures $1.4M to Transform Urban Mobility Across Africa

Enakl, a Moroccan urban mobility startup, has secured $1.4 million in pre-seed funding to develop smart, safer, and sustainable collective transportation solutions for daily commutes, both domestically and internationally.

The pre-seed funding round, led by Catalyst Fund, included participation from Renew Capital, Digital Africa, Station F, and 15 business angels, aimed at accelerating Enakl’s expansion in Morocco and beyond.

Founded in September 2023 by Samir Bennani and Charles Pommarede, with Ahmed Omrane later joining as associate CTO, Enakl aims to enhance the daily commutes of millions of workers by offering a reliable and accessible shared transit platform that reduces carbon emissions and traffic congestion.

Bennani and Pommarede stated, “This funding enables us to strengthen our impact in Casablanca, broaden our reach, and accelerate the development of our technology. By leveraging AI, we aim to optimize routes, improve commuter experiences, and promote sustainable urban mobility solutions.”

Maxime Bayen, managing partner at Catalyst Fund, explained that the decision to invest in Enakl was driven by the company’s transformative approach to urban transport in Africa, offering a sustainable and scalable solution.

“By leveraging technology-driven shared transport to reduce emissions and congestion, Enakl tackles the challenges of urbanization while improving accessibility. In a climate-conscious world, their model sets a benchmark for sustainable and inclusive mobility in African cities,” said Bayen.

Enakl has successfully launched its pilot program, currently managing over 15,000 bookings in Casablanca with a monthly growth rate of 20%, and is planning to expand to other African cities.
