Cassava Technologies Expands AI Infrastructure with NVIDIA Nemotron Models

African technology company Cassava Technologies has expanded its artificial intelligence infrastructure by incorporating NVIDIA’s Nemotron AI models into its AI Factory, a move intended to increase access to advanced AI capabilities for businesses and developers across the continent.

The integration introduces the Nemotron models through the Cassava AI Multi-Model Exchange (CAIMEx), a platform that enables organisations to access multiple artificial intelligence models through application programming interfaces (APIs).

The expansion gives businesses additional options for deploying AI-powered applications without necessarily investing in their own large-scale computing infrastructure.

NVIDIA’s Nemotron models support advanced reasoning, automated workflows and interactions with digital tools. These capabilities can be applied in areas such as customer service, business process automation, software development and enterprise information management.

For developers, access to these models could provide opportunities to build applications tailored to different industries and operational requirements.

Cassava is also incorporating NVIDIA OpenShell technology to support more controlled execution of AI agents, particularly when automated systems interact with business software and sensitive information.

Another component of the expansion involves token optimisation technology designed to reduce repeated processing of previously analysed information.

According to Cassava, the feature is intended to improve computing efficiency and potentially lower the operating costs associated with certain AI workloads.

However, the financial benefits will depend on factors including workload complexity, customer usage patterns and the pricing arrangements applied to individual services.

The development comes as African businesses increasingly explore artificial intelligence for productivity improvements, operational efficiency and digital service delivery.

Access to locally available AI infrastructure could help address some technological barriers facing organisations that lack the resources to deploy sophisticated systems independently.

Nevertheless, affordability, reliable connectivity, data protection and technical expertise remain important considerations for companies adopting AI technologies.

Cassava Technologies operates across several technology segments, including connectivity, cloud services, data centres and financial technology.

Its latest integration adds to the AI services available through its existing infrastructure.

The longer-term significance of the development will depend on adoption among African enterprises, operational reliability and whether customers achieve measurable improvements in cost and performance
