MTN Zambia Takes Social Interaction A Step Further With The Launching of Ayoba

Ayoba is an instant messaging app, billed to become a hit in the country.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic spreading fast and nationwide lockdown imposed by the government, families, spouses, friends, colleagues, and business partners must stay connected. For that reason, MTN Zambia, the country’s biggest telecommunication provider, has partnered Simfy Africa to provide Ayoba, an instant messaging application. The app is available to all Android device users in the country. Users can text and send media files with it, at no cost.

The impressive thing about Ayoba is that both parties don’t need to have the app to interact. Plus, it is a free app, which anyone can download from the Google Play Store and install on their Android device. You can send text, voice notes, videos, and images via the app, with ease. It features an end-to-end connection, which ensures messages via the app are encrypted, to protect users’ privacy. 

Mr. Bart Hofker, CEO of MTN Zambia, commented on the launch. He said, and I quote, “MTN Zambia continues leading the delivery of a bold and new digital world for our esteemed customers. Now we have decided to introduce Ayoba, a messaging app. It’s also the first of its kind in the country, and we hope to continue offering our customers exceptional customer service. Being a new product, Ayoba is outstanding. It combines innovation and high-end encryption security, and convenience of service to provide the best user experience one can ever imagine. 

The MTN Zambia CEO also gave a remark that “the year 2020 hasn’t been easy because of the COVID-19 pandemic across the globe. People may quickly get discouraged because of what’s happening at this point and start looking for relief from their anxiety. That’s the reason we want to allow our customers to experience a brighter side of life during this critical period. The opportunity is for them to embrace our innovative products and services, which includes Ayoba and MusicTime. 

These two products will help customers stay entertained and connected with their friends. 

Mr. Seun Soladoye, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Zambia, said, “Customers that will download this Ayoba app can do so for free. They will not also be charged for SMS and data when using this app. From the time customers download and install the app, the free data usage starts. However, this free data will only be for three months. Afterward, Ayoba users will need to subscribe with as little as K1 to continue using the application.
