Nigerian Web Hosting Provider WhoGoHost Acquires Cloud Communications Startup SendChamp

Share

WhoGoHost, a Nigerian company that provides web hosting and other digital services has acquired SendChamp, a startup offering cloud-based business communications solutions. The acquisition aims to expand WhoGoHost’s offerings to better serve African entrepreneurs and companies looking to establish an online presence.

Founded in 2021, SendChamp enables businesses to communicate with customers across various channels, including SMS text messaging, WhatsApp, email, and voice calls. The startup’s messaging and communication tools will allow WhoGoHost to integrate these solutions into its existing platform over the next few months before fully transitioning the SendChamp brand under the WhoGoHost name.

The deal brings together two young Nigerian tech companies; both focused on empowering local businesses to leverage digital channels to reach and engage with customers. SendChamp’s founders, CEO Goodness Kayode and CTO Damilola Olotu, will take on leadership roles at WhoGoHost as Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer, respectively.

According to WhoGoHost founder Opeyemi Awoyemi, acquiring SendChamp provides an opportunity for the company to expand its offerings beyond domain hosting and web services into a broader suite of digital tools and solutions for African businesses looking to establish an online presence and connect with customers.

This acquisition follows previous deals by WhoGoHost in 2016 to take over fellow Nigerian digital services companies TheExpertHost and iHost Africa as part of its growth strategy. With the addition of SendChamp’s communications capabilities, WhoGoHost aims to become a comprehensive digital infrastructure provider, enabling African entrepreneurs to thrive online.
