VeggieVictory, Nigeria plant-based startup secures pre-seed funding for expansion

VeggieVictory, a plant-based startup in Nigeria has secured a pre-seed investment round from  Sustainable Food Ventures, Kale United, Capital V, and Thrive Worldwide. The amount raised remains undisclosed.

The company previously raised angel funding from Anant Joshi founder at PlantCEO, and Ryan Bethencourt who is a founder of SFV. VeggieVictory launched in January and will use its proceeds to carry out an expansion of its plant-based offerings. Products expected are vegan beef jerky that includes soy-based hotdogs, meatless burger patties, tofu scrambles, shawarma, and other Nigeria delicacies.

VeggieVictory also plans to increase its presence in the Nigerian domestic market while expanding globally to countries across Africa, U.S.A, and Europe. Its flagship product is the Vchunks, protein-rich plant-based meat chunks meal locally produced and packaged in Nigeria.

Hakeem Jimo, who is the co-founder and CEO of VeggieVictory expressed excitement in the new investors touting Africa as the “next frontier for the plant-based movement.”
