KERA Secures $10M to Expand AI-Driven Healthcare Access in West Africa

Ilara Health

Senegal’s e-health startup, KERA Health Platforms, has secured US$10 million in funding from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group. The funding will help strengthen KERA’s AI-driven platform that links patients and healthcare providers while enabling the digital collection and analysis of health data.

Founded in 2023, KERA is dedicated to reaching underserved communities, particularly women and informal sector workers. Its platform aims to lower healthcare costs for patients and improve service quality by enabling faster payments and leveraging AI for greater efficiency.

In addition to funding, the IFC will support KERA in aligning with international social and environmental standards, strengthening its corporate governance, and setting up formal channels for employee feedback and grievance resolution.

Senegal’s healthcare system remains strained, with fewer than one doctor for every 10,000 people. The collaboration between IFC and KERA seeks to address this gap by leveraging AI and digital tools to enhance healthcare access across West Africa.
