Social impact accelerator C3 just completed the third cohort of its annual accelerator programme powered by HSBC. The top three emerging winners were Baramoda from Egypt (1st place), The Zola Collective (2nd place), and EduPloyment (3rd place) – both from the UAE. Baramoda is an agritech startup specialized in sustainable agricultural innovations.

All three winners received equity-free cash prizes by HSBC alongside probono consulting from Bain & Co, probono legal support from Al Tamimi & Company, and a complimentary license to DMCC. Winners will also receive Amazon Web Services (AWS) promotional credits which is part of the AWS Activate program, in addition, to support corporate training company FH insights.

C3 attracted over 1000 applicants with 42 entrepreneurs drawn from the eight countries that make up the Middle East and Turkey region (MENAT) making it among the semi-final training sessions. This shortlist was further cut down to 24 finalists of whom 45 percent were women founders.

HSBC’s MD and Head of Sustainability EMEA, Sabrin Rahman expressed her delight in “Scaling up these social businesses” and “tackling some of the most critical issues in our communities.”

This year the programme has enjoyed support from over 160 blue-chip company experts, 30 regional and international VCs, who have taken part in board room simulations, alongside 20 distinguished judges helped in selecting the winners.

All the C3 entrepreneurs will receive further support from C3 and its partners as they strive towards building a collaborative ecosystem.”
