Ethio Telecom Partners with AfDB to Drive Digital Transformation and Expand Connectivity Across Africa

In a move aimed at advancing Africa’s digital evolution, Ethio Telecom has joined forces with the African Development Bank  (AfDB) to enhance Ethiopia’s digital economy and expand internet connectivity throughout the continent.

Acknowledging their mutual goals, H.E. Mr. Solomon Quaynor, Vice President of the Private Sector, Infrastructure, and Industrialization Complex at AfDB, along with Dr. Leandre Bassole, Deputy Director General for the East Africa Region, and other senior AfDB officials, held a strategic meeting at Ethio Telecom, led by Frehiwot Tamiru, CEO of Ethio Telecom.

Ms. Frehiwot emphasized the importance of collaboration in realizing Ethio Telecom’s vision for Digital Ethiopia, showcasing the company’s advancements. She stated, “Ethio Telecom is committed to transforming Ethiopia and advancing Africa’s digital empowerment. Through infrastructure expansion and the provision of innovative digital solutions, we are driving inclusive economic growth and shaping a more interconnected future.”

The CEO further emphasized that Ethio Telecom continues to evolve as a key contributor to both Ethiopia’s and Africa’s digital transformation. Through expanding its user base and providing cutting-edge digital solutions, the company is accelerating Ethiopia’s shift towards a fully connected, tech-driven economy, while also playing an active role in Africa’s broader digital advancement. As one of Africa’s top telecom providers, Ethio Telecom is steadfast in its mission to bridge the digital divide, foster economic opportunities, and build a more inclusive, sustainable future.
