The efforts Meta is taking to ensure the integrity of the Nigerian elections in 2023 were disclosed by Meta today.This includes its initiatives to stop the dissemination of false information and increase the transparency of political advertising.
This work, which will continue before, during, and after elections, builds on Meta’s expertise and lessons learned from assisting elections globally and throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.Conversations with human rights organizations, NGOs, local civil society organizations, regional experts, and local election authorities have also influenced Meta’s strategy in order to help ensure user safety, customize election strategies for Nigeria, uphold the integrity of its platforms, and keep users safe.
