Nigeria’s tech-driven scheduled mass transit firm, Shuttlers, has earned the distinction of being a 2023 Technology Pioneer, an honor conferred by The World Economic Forum (WEF).

The prestigious recognition is given to 100 tech innovators worldwide who significantly advance fields like sustainability, advanced manufacturing, and inclusive healthcare.

“By demonstrating exceptional innovation and disruption, the 2023 class of Technology Pioneers is reshaping industries globally. Their anticipated contributions to the Forum’s mission of bridging public and private sectors to address worldwide concerns are exciting,” said Verena Kuhn, the Head of Innovator Communities at the WEF.

Kuhn elaborated that Shuttlers’ acknowledgment emphasizes its commitment to addressing the intricate problem of inefficient transportation systems and high costs in Africa’s urban areas. By employing state-of-the-art technology, Shuttlers provides a convenient bus ride-sharing platform to individuals and corporations seeking intelligent mobility solutions.

Shuttlers’ co-founder and CEO, Damilola Olokesusi, expressed her delight at being counted among the world’s most transformative and influential companies, attributing this success to the collective efforts and dedication of the team.

“The WEF’s selection of Shuttlers as a 2023 Technology Pioneer celebrates our persistent dedication to innovation and the significant change we’re initiating. As a member of the Global Shapers community, this recognition is particularly gratifying,” Olokesusi said.

She further elaborated that Shuttlers will have the opportunity to engage in WEF initiatives over the next two years as a technology pioneer, collaborating with policymakers and private sector leaders to develop innovative solutions for current crises and future resilience.

Olokesusi emphasized that being named a Technology Pioneer by WEF reaffirms Shuttlers’ role in promoting sustainable urban growth and its leadership position in Africa’s tech-mobility industry. The recognition, she said, marks a significant achievement for Shuttlers and strengthens its resolve to address urban transportation issues persistently.
