TLcom Capital Hosts Summit to Encourage Female Representation in Tech

TechInAfrica — Africa-focused venture capital firm, TLcom Capital hosted an African Tech Female Founder Summit in order to help boost female representation in the tech industry.

The summit, which targets at building a collaborative network for women in tech where they come together to share insights on achieving massive value generation and scale in Africa, had more than 50 female founders from across Africa. Some of them are Odunayo Eweniyi of Piggyvest, Isis Nyong’o of Mum’s Village, Vivien Nwakah of Medsaf and Miishe Addy of Jet Stream, among others.

Senior female executives from TLcom’s portfolio companies including Twiga Foods, Kobo360, Terragon, Andela, and Ajua, also in attendance. The company also announced its plan to hold the Summit annually while encouraging more companies to push female representation in their organizations.

Speaking during the occasion, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of MainOne, Funke Opeke emphasized the importance of female leadership.

“A clear message that should be taken away from the Summit is that the glass ceiling on female leadership can and will be broken. For incoming and incumbent women in our sector, today is a powerful display of what is possible throughout Africa’s tech scene. We had entrepreneurs from a variety of fields but what we all shared were common experiences and a shared vision for change.
