Altech Secures $18 Million Funding to Drive Clean Energy Access Expansion in the DRC

Share

Altech Group, based in the DRC, has gotten $18 million in loans and grants from the Energy Entrepreneurs Growth Fund (EEGF), Triple Jump, and Rabobank to grow its solar energy sales and distribution across the country.

Altech was started in 2013 and now has 4,500 workers and sales agents who serve more than 140 shops in 22 provinces of the DRC. The company has sold more than 350,000 solar energy items, which have helped more than 1.7 million people in the Congo.

Altech wants to open more than 30 new stores in rural places without competition and distribute 180,000 solar products. This will give 900,000 more people access to clean, reliable energy.

The growth capital will help Altech connect off-grid households in rural, peri-urban, and urban parts of the country to cheap, clean, and reliable solar solutions while creating thousands of green jobs for Congolese youth.
