Launched in 2017, Passafree will offer event producers end-to-end management solutions particularly the ability to accept payments through RFID wristbands.

Back in 2019, Passafree emerged as the overall nationwide winner of the Seedstars Praia startup competition targeting emerging markets. The event drew participation from 30 African countries. The Praia-based company developed a mobile app enabling users to promote, purchase, and sell tickets at events across Cape Verde.

Helga Ortet, built the brand in 2015 and registered the company in 2017. At the moment, PassiD is operating out of Praia but is on the verge of expanding its reach across the Cape Verde islands. However, they plan on expanding to other markets on the continent.

Passafree aims to maintain its market dominance, however, as a self-funded company, its merger with the Portuguese firm Best-id is to strengthen the scaling process.
