Flutterwave will partner with Amole to facilitate money transfer into the country through the Amole Wallet, cash pickup locations, and bank accounts.

Flutterwave is the Nigerian fintech payments unicorn startup that will help businesses globally expand their operations throughout the continent and other emerging markets by facilitating cross-border transactions.

Amole offers its customers digital payment services and access to digital products and services. This helps customers to complete essential transactions with ease. The new partnership looks to ease diaspora remittances for the 8 million-plus Ethiopians in the diaspora, who cumulatively remit over $5 billion annually.

International Money Transfer Operators, Flutterwave-linked businesses, and Bater-by-Flutterwave users can send money to Ethiopia through this partnership. Ethiopians in the diaspora can also pay for services through Amole such as utilities.

Olugbenga, Flutterwave’s CEO expressed joy in the new collaboration with Amole, describing it as “another significant milestone for payments in Africa”.

Amole has over 2.3 million unique customers and 4.8 million Ethiopian accounts. It is not long ago when Amole also entered into a strategic partnership with Visa to launch a Visa CyberSource digital payment gateway targeting merchants and banks driving cross-border e-commerce.

We earlier covered how Flutterwave just closed a $170 M Serie C round that shot the company’s valuation to over a billion dollars.
