Nigeria to take part in GITEX 2020: To promote youth-led advancements in the digital economy

Over 80 countries are to participate in this year’s  GITEX Technology Week running from the 6th to the 10th of December 2020.

GITEX 2020 is purposed to promote youth-led enterprises to showcase their innovations arising from the tech startup community and merging that with the county’s strong policy on the digital economy. Nigeria will run this year’s program through the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

NITDA offers full sponsorships to several startups countrywide aiming to take part in the Global Future Stars. GFS is a highlight of the GITEX 2020 offering insights to the startup 2020 community while leveraging exposure from angel investors and mentors.

Chiniki clinched the top prize for an AI solution at 2019’s GFS. The new theme projected by NITDA at the GITEX AIF will focus on the new generation of investors, entrepreneurs, and government leaders exploiting technology to bring about growth and economic prosperity throughout the continent.

GITEX 2020 will run for a day and cover key trends in technology across various industries from Nigeria and the rest of the continent. According to the Director-General at NITDA, Mr. Kashifu Inuwa, Nigeria hopes to promote digital entrepreneurship among its youth in its economy.
