Nine Sierra Leonean Startups Pitch at Seedstars Freetown

TechInAfrica – The one of the world’s largest emerging market startup competition, Seedstars World, has announced nine startups from Sierra Leone to pitch at Seedstars Freetown pitch event. The pitching event took place on August 30th, 2019, at the Sensi Tech Hub, Freetown.

The winner of Seedstars Freetown will participate at the Seedstars Africa Summit kicking off in Johannesburg, South Africa, in December this year. In addition, this will also give the winner an opportunity to win the sport at the Seedstars Global Summit in Switzerland which will be held next year.

The winner of the summit will have the opportunity to get a $500,000 investment prize and access to a three-month investment readiness program.

Here are the selected nine Sierra Leonean startups who pitched at Seedstars Freetown:

  1. Agro Fish Farm – A fish farming and distribution company which enables people to order fresh fish at any time and affordable prices.
  2. Fepo Website Hosting – A cloud web, email, and app hosting platform that offers simple web solutions to the public. The platform is efficient, reliable and secure.
  3. Jalimi Farms – Jalimi farms provides smart farm solutions for coastal farmers.
  4. Light Salone Innovation – It designs and fabricates small scale renewable energy plants using recycled materials.
  5. Project 2000 – An AgTech startup that offers spot on-time delivery of fresh fruits and vegetables of high nutritional quality.
  6. SaloneBuy – An online marketplace and a classified app that provides a platform for online buying and selling.
  7. Shop SL – An online marketplace for local produce
  8. TapTap SL – A fast, safe and convenient ride-hailing service app
  9. Uniworks SL A complete university management system. It also developed a digital payment solution and Student ID.

The Seedstars Freetown’s were Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation data scientist Kumba Liliana Musa, Madam Wokie CEO and creative director Mary Ann Kai Kai, Seedstars World regional manager Claudia Makadristo, De Victors founder and CEO Alfred Mbeteh and UBA brand manager Esther Michael Emeh.
