OBus Will Get Third Party Buses On Board

Share

TechInAfrica – What’s new on OBus this week is, the bus hailing service now lets bus owners and vendors in Lagos to join their operation with adjusted trip fees. The bus is known to only operate in Lagos, and today, the company launched an ad that calls the owners for a partnership, or alternatively, they can lease their buses to OBus.

It’s been only two weeks after OPay, the Opera-supported multi-service platform launched OBus, and now OBus already set its wings to third party networking.

The reruns regarding OBus are, if you’re missing out on their service; it’s a commuter transit with a tap-in payment service, where you get a QR-enabled card with credits inside that will be deduced upon each trip. The credits can be bought from any OPay agents on the designated bus stops.

The latest move from the bus service is intended to improve its delivery, now entering the third week of the beta phase. There’s still no confirmation as to whether the company will extend its service beyond the Ikeja-CMS route.

These are currently all the updates about OBus’ move:

From AC-equipped bus to negotiable standard daily returns

The desirable bus is one with air conditioner, clean, and comfortable, and this is what OBus seeks in the potential buses. The owners will be responsible for compensating their drivers accordingly, and they also have to cover the vehicle’s maintenance and fuel expenses. Daily returns will be given to them by OBus, based on a consensus. For example, a 12-seat bus could approximately gain ₦35,000 ($96.7) daily returns, but owners are given the flexibility to negotiate for the amount.

Care for safety puts police on-board

For some security reasons, OPay will station one police officer on each OBus. Although this may surprise some people, it has paved OPay’s status as a strong contender for survival in the bus commuter environment.

The trial operation will cover for 60 days before personal branding or more

Only after the owners have hit the 60 days trial period that the buses will get their personal branding, although temporarily. After 60 days, the owners are free to either continue with the joint business or opt-out from the agreement.

If you are a bus owner or vendor

Interested in what OBus currently offers? You can get more information by visiting OPay’s office or contacting the marketing section of the company.

Other than OBus, OPay has also added food delivery, tricycle and motorcycle hailing, to personal loans into its service list for the past few months. Some may address concerns for the company’s speedy expansion, but the company believes the experience will be worth it.
