TechInAfrica – A new South Africa’s newest Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) has been officially revealed by Pick n Pay called PnP Mobile. MTN’s mobile network infrastructure will be used to support this service to provide customers prepaid, SIM-based access to services including airtime, data, and SMS.

Besides receiving loyalty points after purchasing at any Pick n Pay store across the country, including Express, Clothing and Liquor stores – Smart Shoppers will get data rewards. Customers also have the opportunity to earn up to 2.5GB in free data rewards each month.

Smart Shoppers will earn 5MB in data immediately when spending R10 in-store. Customers are required to connect their Smart Shopper card and top up PnP Mobile SIM card with at least R50 in a 30-day period to measure up the reward.

This service also makes customers easy to sign up their new SIM card without any paperwork and within minutes via Pick n Pay’s new paperless RICA facility, which is planned to launch in 500 chosen stores later this year.

Richard van Rensburg, Chief Technology and Services Officer at Pick n Pay said that mobile technology becomes the center to South Africans’ way of life and an important object of every month at grocery shops. South Africa has a very high number of smartphone users, however, the price of mobile data becomes the obstacle. Pick n Pay confidently delivers that their expansion to enter the digital market will bring many advantages for its customers.
