The recently concluded #COVID19InnovationChallenge saw seven startups receive funding support worth $3000 from Venture Platforms and its partners.

Now three of those startups have had their technology integrated by the Nigeria Center for Disease. The NCDC is looking to use the startups’ innovative technologies to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

The three startups are among the 7 that have developed tech solutions aimed at preventing new infections across several African countries. Following the virtual Demo Day, telecommunications giant MTN, the NCDC, and the Lagos State Science and Research Innovation Council wowed to support the seven startups.

The NCDC has thus integrated Infodemics, Gloepid, and COVID Triage in its efforts in cutting further spread of the coronavirus disease. For Gloepid, the NCDC has integrated its Prunedge bot as well as its app technology.

The agency has also integrated Triage’s Wellvis Health interface. The agency is also tapping into Infodemics’ app solution to help curb the spread of fake coronavirus-related news.

MTN joins the effort

MTN, on its part, is also supporting three of the seven startups- Gloepid, COVID Triage, and iQube Labs. The company has said it aims to help these startups scale their solutions.

MTN will set up a USSD for Wellvis Health for Triage to push its tool to those that deserve it most. These are people in remote areas who have no access to internet connectivity or do not have internet-enabled mobile phones.

The mobile networks provider has also planned to Zero Rate the Gloepid app. It will also allocate a toll-free line for iQube Labs’ MyServiceAgent.
