Damu Sasa wins Villgro Africa challenge secures $20K

Innovative Kenyan-based healthtech startup Damu-Sasa secured $20,000 from Villgro Africa to enhance their Covid-19 mitigation capability. The e-health startup is an end-to-end blood service information management platform.

Damu Sasa works on the blood ecosystem by helping hospitals source blood from qualifying donors while supporting screening, preparation of blood products, inventory and blood transfusion management.

Damu Sasa helps donors mobilize and track their donations while providing digitized real-time access to the donation history. The expert team works alongside hospitals and other multi-sectoral partners in delivering a healthy supply of safe while ensuring digitized tracking and reporting on its countrywide utilization.

Damu Sasa App can now be downloaded from Google PlayStore. The app also helps you find the nearest blood donation center. To meet Kenya’s transfusion needs the country needs 1 million units of blood annually, a move that can be achieved with the sound adoption of digitized technology innovation.

Villgro Africa has been active in the support of healthcare access solutions to those at the bottom of the pyramid. Thus far they have supported over 21 enterprises with over USD$1million worth of funding. Enterprises supported by Villgro have generated over 42.2 million and impacted over 2 million lives.
