The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) has been operating in Africa for over ten years now. The MEST 3rd annual African Summit will take place from 18 to 20 June 2018. Cape Town will host the event under the new title ‘pan-African’. This year’s event will attract participants like entrepreneurs, executives to the global investors. The previous annual MEST Africa Summit took place in Ghana and Nigeria.
The MEST stakeholders will come from Europe, Africa, and Silicon Valley. They will discuss the 2018 theme “The Year of the African Scaleup?” The discussion will focus on networking and market trends in Africa. MEST competition is scheduled in Nairobi, Cape Town, Accra, and Lagos. The pitch competition was opened from April 1st 2018. From Late April to early May, MEST will conduct regional events for city winners. The final MEST Africa Challenge will take place on day two of the Cape Town summit. According to Aaron Fu, the MEST managing director, the event will gather participants from investment space and tech field.
He added that the MEST players from Africa and worldwide will congregate in Cape Town. The event provides a platform where ecosystem partners, investors, and pan-African entrepreneurs interact. The event is to reveal opportunities and challenges facing business in the continent. The facilitators will mention companies and partners willing to scale-up African business.
The debate will touch on latest blockchain innovations, agri-tech, and fintech. The MEST early sponsors are Merck, AlphaCode, Wesgro, MTN, AfricArena, Silicon Cape and SiMoDiSa. MEST has also announced the application for speakers and partners.
