Inwi Launches Financial Service For Smartphones

TechInAfrica – Inwi, the Moroccan telecom’s operator has announced the launch of ‘inwi money’, its mobile money service today, on Wednesday 25th September 2019. Inwi money is a service that uses Mobiquity Money, which is a digital money platform from Comviva. The new service will allow consumers to practice multiple financial transactions, including person-to-person money transfer, billing, and merchant payments, as well as airtime purchase.

Nicolas Levi, the CEO of inwi money, said: “We are delighted to offer inwi money service which is powered by Comviva’s mobiquity Money platform. As it did in various countries, mobile money service aimed at simplifying and enhancing the lives of millions of Moroccans by providing them easy, fast and more convenient digital financial service.”

“By digitizing money transfers and payments we participate to accelerate financial inclusion and to contribute towards the economic development of the country,” said Ghassane El Machrafi, Chairman of inwi money.

Any smartphone will do the job. According to inwi, consumers are not restricted to the phone type, as they can access the service from whichever smartphone models by downloading the ‘inwi money’ app or they can choose the USSD menu. After downloading the app, consumers will have to register, and their service provides various levels of registrations, from self-registration to agents-supported registration. The app is currently available to French and Arabic speakers.

With inwi money, consumers can:

  • Instantly send money to other members of the inwi money community.
  • Request money.
  • Recharge mobile subscription balance.
  • Pay mobile subscription bill.
