Stellantis invests in Africar Group to build the African start-up Auto24, which specializes in secondhand vehicles.

Africar Group and Stellantis announced on September 12, 2022, that they would launch Auto24 activities in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.Auto24 is a company that sells used automobiles directly to consumers. It provides new, cutting-edge solutions to guarantee that all financial dealings are carried out honestly and safely.

Stellantis has acquired a part in Africar Group to build Auto24 and capitalize on the enormous market potential in Africa, where the population is expected to reach 1.7 billion by the year 2030 and where there are now 50 million car parks [1]. Stellantis views this investment as an essential component of its global strategy to build up its portfolio of mobility solutions and show how committed it is to putting the customer first. This is also an example of the Dare Forward 2030, which is being implemented in one of the seven accretive businesses Stellantis is looking to acquire.

Africar Group is the continent’s most successful online automotive marketplace network, and it operates in more than 40 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa. In the last five years, it has made it possible for more than 25 million buyers and sellers of used cars to do business online.

Xavier Duchemin, Senior Vice President of the Pre-Owned Vehicles business unit at Stellantis, said : “This investment in Africar Group to create Auto24 re-enforces our plan to grow our used vehicle business activity globally in a bold, pragmatic and agile way. It will follow the same plan as Stellantis’s other used car market investments. The founders will speed up the growth of their business by building on Stellantis while keeping the creativity, energy, and flexibility typical of startups.

Stellantis is the third Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to seek to become the top automotive group in the Middle East and Africa region by 2030, with sales of over one million new vehicles annually. 

Stellantis has close to 124 points of sales and service locations across Sub-Saharan Africa, making it the company that provides the most comprehensive network coverage in the automobile business.

Today, Stellantis Middle East & Africa’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Samir CHERFAN, said, “This collaboration with Africar Group, through its subsidiary Auto24, will allow us to expand our mobility solutions to meet more customer needs in Africa.”
