The Western Cape Government (WCG) plans on actualizing a united tech ecosystem within the capital that sets it apart as the top tech capital within the African continent. Western Cape’s provincial government is committed to raising Cape Town’s status as the undisputed tech capital and leader in the tech ecosystem.

WCG plans to cultivate the values, skills, innovations, and lifestyles championed by the tech sector within Cape Town and Western Cape. The city is currently ranked among the top budding start-up ecosystems in the globe as many tech and digital businesses call it home.

Alan Winde, Cape Town’s premier proudly declared Cape Town and Western Cape as the “Africa’s tech capital.”

The initiative is a product of the Digital Economy unit at the city’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism in collaboration with Wesgro, City of Cape Town,  Western Cape Government, and other tech facilitators such as LaunchLab, Startup Bootcamp, Silicon Cape, and CiTi in launching the new brand.

According to Ventureburn, this new ecosystem will offer startup access to a diverse pool of tech companies, supporting institutions, 22 operational accelerators and incubators, 25 coworking spaces, and higher education institution networks.

Tech companies are advised to submit their details here so as to be included within the ecosystem.
