The Fourth Edition of Pitch AgriHack Calls for Innovative Agri-Entrepreneurs

TechInAfrica – The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), a global institution in agriculture is inviting innovative agricultural entrepreneurs to apply for the 4th edition of the Pitch AgriHack competition.

Pitch AgriHack was first launched in 2015 aiming at accelerating youth digital entrepreneurship in agriculture to create jobs and drive growth in Africa, the Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries.

Besides that, the purpose of the competition is to contribute in the innovations of agri-food sector by offering grants and access to investments, capacity building, and promotional opportunities for youth entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35 years old.

Seven finalists in different categories will be selected and get access to investment and partnership as well as training bootcamp. They will also get the opportunity to win EUR5,000 – EUR15,000.

Ken Lohento, a Senior Program Coordinator for ICT4Ag, said: “We are proud that Pitch AgriHack has become such an important part of the African Green Revolution Forum. More importantly, we are proud to see how so many of our alumni have grown. Since the inception of the AgriHack talent initiative, we have worked with more than 1 000 young digital innovators, with around 100 entering the final stages of the competition. Many have gone on to win additional funding close to EUR2 million [R32 million] from various players and created jobs.”

Being part of AgriHack Talent Initiative, Pitch AgriHack is launched in collaboration with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, Green Tech African Foundation, OCP Group, and the World Bank, amongst others. Both male and female founders of AgriTech startups are encouraged to join the competition.

Furthermore, participants should be resident of Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific countries who are signatories of the Cotonou Agreement with the Europe Union (EU). The selected finalist will pitch their solutions to ICT4Ag and business experts at the African Green Revolution Forum in Accra, Ghana on September 3 – 7, 2019.
