DBSA Extend Entries Deadline For Youth Challenge, Submit Yours Now

TechInAfrica – If you thought you’d missed the deadline for DBSA’s Youth Challenge, the bank got good news for you. On Wednesday (04/09), it published a short notice about the extended deadline on its official website. The Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) has pushed further the deadline for the competition to September 30. The competition was open from July and the application entry was initially set to end on August 31, but now that it has been extended, there is still time if you haven’t submit yours.

Innovators within the age range of 18-35 years old who want to offer their ideas about how development can be done in regards to the infrastructural needs in many sectors are invited to participate in this challenge. Give your most creative ideas you can think of as for the lucky winners will get a prize in the total of R1.5 M cash.

DBSA accepts entries for the following sectors:

  • Energy
  • Water
  • Transport
  • ICT
  • Health
  • Education
  • Human Settlement (Housing)

Participants can pick more than one sector, and it should be relevantly practical to society, being your own effort and not a copy of anyone else, and it also needs to be a scalable solution that can be realized when applied to real-life scenarios. The youth are probably happy with the hosting of this competition, as the entries are crowded from the very first day of its launching campaign, which is impressive to see, the bank stated. Indirectly, the bank’s decision to extend the due deadline might contribute to Africa’s prosperity, as more young people are given an extended chance to delve more of their ideas, and by being able to explore it once more could possibly offer a different perspective and insight, and have them coming up with a more rounded ideas than before.

“Through initiatives such as the DBSA Youth Challenge, we look forward to working more closely with a segment of our society that is the foundation for our country’s future,” Sebolelo Matsoso, the Head of Communication and Marketing of DBSA said.

The top 10 finalists will promote their ideas and do networking with the potential sponsors before the announcement of the 3 winners on a gala event held later in the year.
