TechInAfrica – Bolt has revealed that it has added an SOS button to its application. The SOS button by Namola was used to develop the Bolt’s Safety Toolkit which assists rides connected with emergency services while on a Bolt ride.

The integration is renowned since it enables every emergency response team to discover riders’ location, riders’ contact information and details, vehicle and license plate without wasting much time.

The country manager for Bolt in South Africa, Gareth Taylor said in a statement that every Bolt passenger can activate the Namola-linked SOS button that appeared in the Safety Toolkit on the Bolt application. The activation is used when they feel dangerous or involved in misadventure or any other emergency incident while on a ride.

Bolt’s High Priority response team will be alerted if passengers press the SOS button on the Bolt application, and if needed, the team will work with South African Police Services.

Taylor concluded that the priority is on the safety of every passenger in South Africa’s transportation sector. Also, it becomes Bolt’s responsibility to continue to commit to keeping passengers and drivers safe while using the platform.

The SOS button also completed with other features such as sharing the journey details with friends and family should assist in giving riders that extra safety net when they need it.
