The transfer process can also be done via mobile devices.

Angelica Pesha, the Acting Chief Officer for Tigo Tanzania’s Mobile Financial Services (MFS), said and I quote, “The new mobile money transfer services enabled in four countries will help cement how Tigo further adapts to the peculiar needs of its customers with digital solutions. It also implies that mobile money benefits can also be extended to cross-border trade. And this will enable small businesses and families in the East Africa region to securely and quickly transfer funds.

MTN Uganda has been a significant player when it comes to financial innovation across the county. The company has been organizing and delivering various financial services for quite some time. These include loans, micro-savings, insurance, and merchant payments via MoMoPay in Uganda.

Stephen Mutana, MTN Uganda’s General Manager, also made vital points in his comment. According to the top executive, “To make MTN’s extensive network available to customers domiciled in East Africa, that’s an indication of our consistent drive to provide reliable, budget-friendly, and secure financial services to people in the Eastern African region, not only in Uganda.

Jidia Gasana, Airtel Rwanda’s Head of Airtel Money, said, and I quote, “Since mobile money is gradually becoming borderless, this solid partnership established with Tigo Tanzania, is an indication of our preparedness to offer satisfactory services to our esteemed customers residing in the East African region. Our priority is to let our customers send funds to their friends and families who have Airtel Money Wallets. Business partners can also do the same with ease.
