Afrobodies Wins the Pitch Tank Competition in South Africa

The 2018 Pitch Tank competition in South Africa was hosted by Entrepreneur Traction and Startup Hatchery. The event took place on February 24, 2018, in Western Cape. Furthermore, the main intention of organizing the event is to allow entrepreneurs showcase their innovative ideas to potential investors.

Afrobodies, a biotech startup which produces a recombinant alpaca antibodies for use by life sciences was announced the best startup. The idea was presented by Benedicta Mahlangu who is currently the CEO and co-founder of the startup. The product of the startup is widely used in South African universities and other research institutions.

Being the winners, the startup will undergo the Startup Hatchery virtual incubation program which will mentor the startup owners. Besides, the program will help in training and business support.

The first runners-up, Kazitechsolutions got cash prize and had a slot in the Startup Hatchery program as well. Kazitechsolutions tries to connect student developer teams with various startups.

Favours was announced the second runners-up and they were awarded cash prize and virtual business incubation from The Startup Hatchery. The startup has a platform where its users can seek help and a task be performed for one another in return of extra cash.
